Voices of Success: What My Students Have to Say

I was delighted to find Caroline, not only do her online classes make it easy to learn French wherever you are, she is very passionate, personable and engaging teacher who makes learning French a pleasure; i couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Katie L.

I joined one of Caroline’s online groups during Covid, as I knew that I could not travel to our French home for a while so I felt it would be a good way of improving my French at a distance. Caroline’s classes were a revelation from that start. She presents a relaxed and easy approach to French, from grammar, to speaking and written French. Every lesson is different, and every assignment is challenging but always useful, and Caroline is always positive with every student however they are progressing. The groups are small and intimate with a good mixture of chat and structured work. After a few months being taught by Caroline, I felt confident enough to start reading French books and watching French movies which helped me enormously to improve. I could not recommend Caroline enough for her lovely, friendly approach to learning French at a pace to suit everyone.

I could never have improved on french without Caroline, There are many french teachers around but Caroline is the best out there. The biggest problem with french is one does not simply sit and become french, the homework she gives and the effort on the students part is crucial and I think many students give up too quickly, french is a very complex language, I highly recommend Caroline and at the same time I also highly recommend students to do the homework she gives and to commit. I have been with Caroline two years now and can honestly say if I didn't make progress with her in the beginning it was because of my own lack of commitment and not doing the homework she provided me. I started with Caroline with a very poor french level and am now passing towards B2. She is very structured and know how to help students progress, she is simply phenomenal.

I truly enjoy my online french classes with Caroline. Just a few months ago I didn’t know a single word in french and now I can have a fluent conversation. I like that each lesson is well planned and focused on new vocabulary as well as grammar that she is so patient to explain. Caroline is simply fantastic! If you are thinking about learning french, then Caroline is without a doubt the best choice you could make.

I took group classes with Caroline for 9 months. I appreciated that the study materials are engaging, structured, and to-the-point. Caroline quickly identifies your weak areas and focuses on them. She is motivating, personable and fun and truly cares about your progress. But do your homework if you want to move fast! 🙂 Within the first 4 months I already noticed that I was able to communicate effectively and became confident and independent in my every day living in France. I recommend Caroline to anyone who needs to level up their French.

I have been taking weekly online private French lessons with Caroline de Spiegeleir for almost six months now, and I wholeheartedly recommend her services. She is eminently qualified, broadly experienced, extremely professional, and clearly dedicated to her craft. But that’s not all: she is also warm, personable, kind, thoughtful, caring, funny, curious, interesting, and creative. I particularly appreciate the fact that the French-born-and-bred Caroline has lived and worked extensively in the United States. She speaks excellent English, and is familiar with American slang and other unique aspects of English from an American perspective. Her mastery of both languages is another benefit to her students, as she can easily recognize and discuss nuances and subtle differences that can be stumbling blocks along the path of learning. At our weekly sessions, Caroline is prepared and organized. She provides lessons with a useful and logical structure. She is, quite simply, a pleasure to work with, and she contributes much to my improvement in French. I am happy to give her my highest recommendation.

Caroline est au top! She knows her material; and knows how to teach it. The classes are great fun, and as you advance tailored to your needs and interests. I started from nil, but am now in the advanced class. She will help you do this - and you'll enjoy it.

I consider myself lucky to have found Caroline’s French classes; she is a top professional with good sense of humour and I eagerly await the next session. Caroline’s teaching methodology and materials are well tailored to my learning needs and I started to feel increasingly confident using the language earlier than I initially hoped for. I have no hesitation in recommending Caroline’s classes to students at any proficiency level.

I have had several french teachers and Caroline is the best instructor I have had. She is very professional. She is excellent with the tech making sure it aids rather than hinders the lesson. She is demanding, she expects you to do all the homework and prepare for class.”

Discover French Culture

Language and culture are closely intertwined and especially with French language. Understanding French etiquette will often help you start a conversation, release the tension of a situation, or make you more at ease with what’s being said to you or expected of you.

Europeans and Westerners tend to believe that the culture between their countries and France is not that different, they’re wrong. We are a very particular species and sometimes you might benefit from knowing the “French code”. Classes are organized around communication situations which include cultural background.

You’ll now understand why French people are considered “rude” or “arrogant” sometimes, you’ll be able to navigate our French administration maze a bit better (I don’t do miracles though, sometimes I don’t even have the exit :), you’ll know what to say at a French dinner and what to bring, etc.
